Review
Billed as "the male figure in photo and drawing."
DSI Sales was one of the first vintage gay porn magazines to feature full-frontal nudity, and the outfit suffered accordingly, enduring obscenity charges and criminal prosecution.
The magazine is mostly anonymous photos of a variety of guys, some muscled, some less so, mostly young, in various nude poses. Not all the guys are nude, and the cocks are not hard, nor are their close-ups of the cocks. But there is some definite eye candy; imagine the models in magazines like Physique Pictorial, Trim, and Demi-gods without their posing straps!
The photo credits are from famous studios like Olympia, Quaintance Studio, and William MacLane Studios. Both Artwork (some classic pieces by Quaintance) and photos in this issue.
Some particularly studly guys (definitely of the younger variety) with interesting cocks appear on pages 11; 13; 24-25; and 33 (he looks to be uncut).
Mel Roberts contributes a guy posing in biker gear, while if the others do pose in gear, it's the less risque sailor hat, tight pants, and bare chest.
Articles in this issue entitled Trust Me; What Purpose Clothes? And A New Era Is Upon Us. The clothes article tries to "root" the magazine in the naturalist/nudist movement, which in many ways was not sexual in nature. The articles argues that clothes can be deceptive and that the oppressive ideas which created our need for clothing will eventually be surmounted in a new era of cosmic consciousness.
How 1960s, and this mindset also governs the article about the new era. The upbeat generation is the hope of the world (this attitude before Vietnam, race riots, and Watergate, but also before Stonewall).
