Review
The feature model is Art Harris, a very ripped African-American muscleman; his photographer is the famous Al Urban. He looks very hung beneath his briefs. Articles on the craze for boating, fighting fatigue, and gaining energy through exercise. Photos of teenage guys showing off their chests. Photo gallery entitled "Physique Pictorial" reveals famous models photographed by famous studios including Glenn Bishop (well-night perfect), and Roger Ditmar, "who seems to tower above the world in this picture by Western Photography Guild."
In the letter to the editor section called "The Male," one Merlyn Harbold from Iowa writes, "I want to congratulate you on your articles on homosexuality as this subject has been hushed up so much that nobody seems to know what is means..." Merlyn, what you perhaps implying about yourself?
Another letter writer claims, "The Europeans have the right idea on sex. They treat is as a common, everyday thing. Over here, mention sex and you are branded. Look what happened to Jack Paar and all because of a water closet." What did happen in that bathroom?
All these letters tie into the editorial in this issue entitled, in a somewhat overgeneralized fashion, "Victorian America," a full-scaled assault on the supposed prudery of this period. What is perhaps implied in this article is leave homosexuals alone, and even more blatantly, stop harassing this outfit for sending obscene materials that cater to them in the male, which was going on at this time.
